Cable modem question

I have a cable modem and is there a way to check and see my through-put ? And that kind of stuff?

Is there something on my computer? Like a file or something that I can look at to see my tranfer rates or what not?

I dont think that there is any one file on a system that can be looked at to check the transfer rates, but there are patches out there that... suppossedly can speed up the process. I have not installed any of them, since I cant undo any changes myself. But from what I've heard they are fairly useful things to run.

On cable modems, the speed is aslo dictated by the amount of other useage on the LAN, one of the problems I have is that whenever I boot up this POS, i get an error message telling me that another machine with the same name exists on the local network.

But I digress....

Check out those patches, but use them at your own risk. Buyer beware...
